Standardizing Roll Recovery in General Aviation
The Case for Power-Push-Roll, by Rich Stowell
Loss of control in-flight (LOC-I) is still the leading killer in general aviation, usually ending in a stall, spin, or spiral dive. In addition, decades of conflicting guidance have left pilots without a simple, standard way to recover from spiral dives and other banked upsets. This paper analyzes that history, delineates the line between prevention and recovery, and proposes Power-Push-Roll as a concise, GA-appropriate standard. Policymakers, curriculum designers, and training providers are encouraged to integrate the Power-Push-Roll strategy into handbooks, syllabi, and UPRT programs.

LEARN - DO - FLY
A good pilot is a healthy mix of mathematician, scientist and athlete, part mechanic and all curiosity. They must know everything about their airplane; control surfaces, power plant, the avionic systems, tire pressure. Because, while the heart of an airplane is metal, fabric or composite; the bloodstream fuel and oil, its brain is the person who flies it.
